What Is Bible Truth? Part Two

A painting of a great hewn foundation stone set in the earth at first light, the morning sun breaking over the hills behind it, carrying the article title and the Time Is At Hand name and address

2 Peter 1:12 — Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

The foundation of eternal life is strategically laid in Bible Truth. Bible Truth is the entrance into God’s everlasting kingdom. Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life; therefore, Peter wants to be diligent in keeping it ever before the people.

Truth is the foundation of Christ’s church

Truth is the foundation of Christ’s Church, and we must always have a knowledge of it.

Peter says, “Though ye know these things, and be established in the present truth, I’ll remind you.”

“I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things.”

Peter believes it is of great importance for him to bring Bible Truth to the remembrance of believers, and it’s very important for Ministers to do the same in these last days.

Things new and old: why the truth must be repeated

People are liable to forget and must always be given refresher courses. New and old truths must be emphasised to keep the listeners up to date.

Amidst the cares and distractions of life, even true Christians are prone to forget Bible Truth, and it is the duty of God’s Servants to keep reminding them of the truth even though it’s well known and understood.

A diligent gospel minister of the kingdom will always bring forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Matthew 13:52 — Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

A painting of an old wooden chest standing open in a stone storeroom, worn scrolls and a fresh unrolled parchment lying together in its warm lamplight, carrying Matthew 13:52 — which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old
Both, not either The householder does not throw out the old to make room for the new. The scribe instructed unto the kingdom keeps the whole treasure, and knows when to bring out which.

“Repetition,” they say, deepens “impression” — we need more than AI generated materials; we must have a deep Holy Ghost inspired impression of Bible Truth.

Walking in truth: freedom, light and life

3 John 1:4 — I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Error darkens the mind, and fetters the soul, but the truth brings freedom, light and life.

John 8:32 — And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Bible truth is our gateway to a rich experience with God and our safe path from a life of miseries.

Psalm 91:4 — He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

A painting of a great eagle on a high rock at dusk, its wings spread wide over the nest beneath them while a storm darkens the valley beyond, carrying Psalm 91:4 — his truth shall be thy shield and buckler
The shield is His truth The psalm names the armour. It is not our certainty or our arguments that cover us, but His truth — and feathers only shelter the one who stays under them.

Defining and living the truth

John 16:12 — I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

John 16:13 — Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

A painting of a white dove descending through a break in dark clouds over still water at daybreak, its light laid out across the surface like a path, carrying John 16:13 — the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth
Guided, not merely informed Christ did not leave the disciples a finished textbook. He promised a Guide — and a guide is only of use to those who are willing to be led somewhere they have not yet been.

Without the Spirit of Truth we cannot know the Truth, and will find ourselves in the same situation as Pontius Pilate.

We need more than truth talk — only through the Spirit of Truth are we able to influence minds.

We must study to know the Truth and to rightly divide it under the influence of the Spirit.

2 Timothy 2:15 — Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Truth begins with Christ and ends with Him. He is the embodiment — the epitome — of the everlasting truth.

He saith, I am the way, “the truth,” and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6 — Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ is the absolute Truth, whether written or spoken — He is past, present and future Truth. The same yesterday, today and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8 — Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Now that we know what Truth is, we shall move on to look at its history and how it is applied in the Bible.

This study continues What Is Bible Truth?, which opens with Pilate’s question in John 18:38 and answers it from Scripture: truth is of God, Christ is truth made visible, and Bible truth must be known, must transform us, and must be rightly divided.

On how the word of truth can be twisted, and how to tell the difference, Can Your Bible Deceive You? opens with Matthew 24:24 — false Christs and false prophets who, if it were possible, would deceive the very elect — and its second and third parts set the King James text beside the modern versions.

If this study has raised something you would like to talk through, the team reads every message: ask a Bible question, or send a prayer request.

On the Spirit of truth, who with the Father and the Son is God, Mystery of the Eternal Godhead works through what Scripture says of the three Persons; and on knowing Christ, who is the truth, Getting to Know Jesus sets out why knowing Him, and not only knowing about Him, is eternal life itself.

What Is Bible Truth?

John 18:38 records Pilate's question to Christ: What is truth? This study answers it from Scripture — truth is of God and Christ is its visible manifestation, and Bible truth must be known, must transform us, and must be rightly divided, for it is the truth that sets us free from the bondage of sin.

Made in His Likeness: Part Two

Genesis 1:27 says God created man in His own image. This second part takes up what that image was made for — to satisfy the things of God and reflect His love, and to sow and to reap — and how Christ answers the death that sin sowed.

Can Your Bible Deceive You? Part Three

Isaiah 14:12 names the one who fell from heaven: O Lucifer, son of the morning. This third part sets the King James text beside the modern versions — Lucifer renamed the morning star, "which art in heaven" gone from Luke 11:2, and the three that bear record in heaven missing from 1 John 5:7.
