# Overcoming Obstacles: Part Seven

> Revelation 3:12 makes the overcomer a pillar in the temple of God, and writes three names upon him — the name of God, the name of His city, and Christ's own new name. Without God, life is a journey into the unknown; with Christ, it becomes a journey of courage and progression.

> **Revelation 3:12** — Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of
> my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my
> God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh
> down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Without God to guide our path, life is just an adventurous journey into the
unknown — a journey of doubts, curiosities, unexpected twists, turns, and great
obstacles. With Christ, life is transformed into a meaningful journey of
courage and progression.

Overcoming obstacles through the strength of God helps us to develop true
strength, vigilance and resilience. Every challenge in life can either make us
stronger for the future or break us into failure.

## A promise to everyone that overcomes

Revelation 3:12 offers a promise to everyone that overcomes; therefore, there
are great rewards along life's journey, and the best will still be realised at
the end for overcomers.

Even though there are setbacks, mistakes and difficult moments, Christ walks
with those who are His followers and helps them find wisdom, purpose and
determination. Overcoming obstacles is a lifelong process of discipline,
growth, and endurance. As we navigate life's journey with Christ, the
experience becomes brighter and better.

## A pillar in the temple of my God

We are invited to the city where the Son of God is the light and will rule for
ever, and He will be our guiding light all the way to our destination. To all
overcomers, Christ says, "I will make a pillar in the temple of my God." God is
not just expecting us to be there; He wants to make us an integral part of the
temple.

Those who allow Christ to guide them along the path of life will be like James,
Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars in the church (Galatians 2:9), and
when Christ comes, they will be a pillar in His temple. A pillar is used as a
support for a building, or a monument, and this honourable position can be
yours in the city of God.

To those that overcome, Christ will make them pillars in His triumphant church
in heaven. They will be permanently fixed there for ever. Never will there be
any more danger of them losing their crown of life. All their struggles,
obstacles and troubles will be over for ever.

## Three names written

The name of my God will also be inscribed on their foreheads, indicating that
they are reflecting the character of God, and the name of New Jerusalem, which
is Holiness unto the Lord.

"And I will write upon him my new name."

> **Jeremiah 23:6** — …and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD
> OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

    The new name
Jeremiah had already given it. It is the name the overcomer will carry.

There will be a new name, a new life, a new city — but most of all, a new King
over the whole earth. This is the promise to all overcomers who yield their
minds to be loyal and obedient to all God's commandments, resist the devil and
all his temptations, and overcome the obstacles of life.

**I am looking forward to this promise — how about you?**

Revelation 14 and the hour of God's judgment.

For the care of the whole person while that overcoming is asked of us, the
